Sir Oscar Wilde! You were right…
Every religion on the face of the earth preaches tolerance apart from other common goods of the society. Only a tolerant society is well mannered and peaceful. The world of activism has always been challenged by the less tolerated members of the society and practical evidence was seen on the road of Multan last month.
In July, 2011 two young social activists from Multan who are working for the societal minorities of the country were beaten brutally with sticks by a group of people. They were hit and thumped roughly for their activism. Considering violence on thousands in occupied regions of the world and comparing them to this act seems to be insignificant but has many similarities. It’s the word “violence” that is similar on two different levels in both cases. It’s the right called, “Human Rights” that is being crushed under the feet in both places. Above all, the wrong doers have done their work and were not even questioned by spectators who were not any common citizens but the policemen. So there comes 3rd similarity between the two and that is the turning of deaf ears by the security providing institutes.
Sir Oscar Wilde was never wrong when he said “When liberty comes with hands dabbled in blood it is hard to shake hands with her.”
